Thoughts about Healing

Reiki, although not termed Spiritual Healing, is still to be considered a Spiritual treatment. Reiki is different from Spiritual Healing as the therapist is attuned to the Universal Life Force Energy and symbols are used during the attunement process and also during the healing session. The Reiki therapist is a channel for the flow of the Universal Life Flow Energy. We are all part of this energy and connected to all life by it. Hence, Oneness is an important term to grasp.

Our physical body is no longer connected to the Universal energy after death but our Soul remains connected and continues to evolve.

The Reiki energy has its own consciousness and goes to where it is needed during a healing session and symbols are used to increase the power of the energy. It is important that neither the therapist nor the client uses thought power to direct the energy to where either of them believes it is required for healing. All the therapist needs to do is state the intention to be a channel for the energy and the client can just relax and allow the energy to go where it is needed.

It is not always obvious what the source of the presenting problem is. For instance, a physical complaint may have its origin in the emotions and thus no long-term benefit will be achieved by concentrating on pain relief. The Life Force Energy has its own consciousness and it is important to keep this in mind. Emotional and mental sources of illness will then benefit from the healing. It is important that whilst being desirous to bring relief to the client this isn’t the focus of the therapist. The Ego must be put to one side as fear of failure to bring the client benefit from the treatment will achieve nothing. True healing begins at Soul level and this begins when the therapist and client get their own agendas out of the way.

Prior to beginning the treatment it is important to take time to discuss with the client why they have come and to find out what is going on in their life as this will enable the therapist to suggest helpful ways to make life changes.

We are all multi-dimensional beings, often simply described as Body, Mind and Soul. It is vital that the therapist is living his / her own life in accordance with Spiritual Principles. No one is perfect but an understanding of how Spirituality can enhance our life and a desire to evolve spiritually will be of great assistance to clients. Whatever ideas can be shared with others will benefit all.

What Spiritual activities bring benefit to the therapist? What does the therapist see as good daily practice? If no such practices are part of someone’s life then no progress is achieved. Therapists have to keep working on themselves and monitor their own spiritual development in order to share ideas with others and assist their development.

This leads us to another issue, namely why benefit may not be received. First of all healing may come about gradually although benefit is not immediately felt. Secondly, it may not be right for healing to occur. One reason may be that deep down the client, at an unconscious level, experiences a secondary gain from the problem. It may be that as a result of the presenting issue benefits are gained eg. perhaps much help is being offered with tasks and this would end if healing occurred. Thus the problem will continue despite treatments.

Another reason may be that the client expects the therapist to bring benefit without any action on their part. Ultimately, healing comes from within and others can only assist. This means that it is important for the therapist to encourage the client to take a spiritual approach and some responsibility in order to deal with the issues that concern them. Clients need to be guided to take their thoughts away from the problem and raise their consciousness to a higher level. This ensures that clients take some responsibility for their lives.

One much debated issue regarding healing failing to occur is Karma, the Law of Cause and Effect. We come into this life with Karma from past lives to be balanced and this has to be addressed. Many therapists are often unaware of this matter. All difficulties are opportunities to balance Karma and if pain and distress are removed by healing then the Karma will remain unresolved. Healing will assist with dealing with life’s issues if consciousness is raised to a higher level allowing the client to receive guidance from his / her Higher Self. Guidance may be given as to what actions will assist growth and development.

In such cases much benefit is received when we work in harmony with the Universe and cease to fight problems at a material level. This blesses others as well as ourselves. It is not an easy route but worth the effort. If we don’t adopt this approach we main gain some physical relief from a healing session but the deep-seated issues will continue to resurface until we learn the lesson.

At the end of this physical life healing energies can bring much relief although it will not prolong this life as we know it and thoughts must not be directed to this. Remember there is a power and intelligence that knows what is right for each of us and the result is always right for each individual.

Let us get our conscious, analytical minds out of the way and allow that Divine Energy of Love and Wisdom tot take over and bring about results we may not have expected or hoped for but they will always be exactly right.

When Healing Energy is allowed to find its pathway it will reach the Soul and the outcome will ensure negativity is released and the Spiritual Path will become visible. The old cliché “let go, let God” is appropriate in all treatments.

I do not see myself as a healer. I do not heal. All healing comes from a Higher Source and I am merely the intermediary who has been trained to be a channel for energy that knows where it is needed. Humility is vital.

That Supreme Source we call God, or Creator, and Source of all life is omnipotent and it is up to us to allow that Life Force to bring Light, Love and Power into the lives of all. This is only possible when we understand we are all One and no longer see ourselves as separate from God and from each other.
