Pulling it all together

The purpose of what has been previously discussed was to emphasise the Oneness of all life. When we understand this we are more likely to live in harmony with each other whilst acknowledging our differences. Learning from others and keeping an open mind helps our own evolution. Many religions and belief systems acknowledge one Creator although different names are used including God, The Absolute, Creator, Universal Mind, Universal Consciousness, Allah, Brahman.

Creation includes all forms of life: humans, animals, plants and minerals, visible and invisible. The Bible tells us that God is omnipresent so there is no space where God cannot be. Islam states “there is no God but Allah”. Although finer details may vary there is a common belief that we are more than a physical body and that part of us survives death. It is the Soul that survives and it is eternal although there are different views of the after-death experience. Life is seen as eternal but, as has been pointed out, views such as salvation, reincarnation and karma vary considerably.

At the core of all beliefs are Spiritual Laws or sets of Principles for living so that we can manifest the qualities of our Creator. There is much emphasis on love, compassion, service to others, charity, respect for all life, good morals and trust in the Creator.

The Bible tells us that God cares for the lilies of the field so we can rely on Him for all our needs. Buddhism teaches the letting go of attachments and desires. The Reiki Principles include letting go of worry. These are just a few examples of how much different faiths trust the Universal Mind to meet our needs in the right way. When we trust in a power greater than ourselves we experience peace and better relationships. We cannot see the big picture and so cannot possibly know what is in our best interests. We have to trust. Those who believe in Karma and Reincarnation can better understand why circumstances do not always go the way we’d like them to.

Some final guidance for all seekers of truth…

Sadly, spiritual teaching can become misinterpreted due to selfishness and the desire for power and control. Truth is what is eternal and unchanging. If we continue to seek truth only from books, teachers, and other external sources we will become confused and disillusioned. Care must be taken in accepting the claims made by those who say they are in telepathic contact with the Higher Beings. Time must be taken to discern what it is these people are “bringing through”. Can we rely on it? Has the message been distorted or interfered with in any way? “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:4-5). Remember that we are all human and no one is infallible. It is the responsibility of each one of us to take time to be still and ask our Soul or Higher Self for guidance to find the truth that is at the core of all spiritual teachings. (You may want to look at our Higher Self Visualisation on our web site.)

As we retreat from the external to our own inner being we will find the truth we are seeking. The Bible says to “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). By setting aside time to take our thoughts to a higher level we can let go of preconceived ideas. As we become silent we can connect with our Soul, thereby shutting out all except God’s presence. It is important to be silent and listen. Eastern religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism find meditation part of their lives but it is only in recent times that meditation has become popular in the west. Philippians 2:12 tells us that we have to work out our own salvation. Truth resides within and no one can do this for us. It’s our journey and our responsibility. That divine spark within us is our personal source of truth.

Once again there is guidance in the Bible at Thessalonians 5:21 where we are told to “prove all things”. As we receive guidance from within our own being we have answers to difficult issues that face us. When we apply these and see the benefits we are doing what Paul advised. As we do this our lives become more peaceful and we enjoy better health.

As we seek truth within and apply it in daily living we begin to see the divine in others. We understand we are all at different levels on a spiritual pathway and we can support each other focussing on our Oneness and not on our differences.

We have our own path to tread and different lessons to learn. No two journeys are the same but all lead eventually to union with our Creator. It is how we live our lives that is important and the Spiritual Laws and Principles which underlie all belief systems will stand us in good stead whatever the afterlife brings.

In our journey back to the Godhead we need to find a way that provides liberation from the cycle of reincarnation.

Hopefully, you will find the following helpful.

  • Concentrate on building up Good Karma, monitoring our thoughts, words and deeds on a daily basis.

  •  Accept that we are spiritual, not material and look for the spiritual qualities in others

  •  Accept God’s gift of Grace through using our talents to be of service to others

    • Grace, faith and good works are all required

    • Paul reminds us that we have to work out our own salvation, this is a responsibility we all have.

  • Keep God in mind at all times

    • Pray without ceasing (Muslims pray at least 5 times a day so their thoughts are never far from Allah)

    • Mantras, short Bible verses, help keep our thoughts at a higher level.

  • Put the Spiritual Law of Unconditional Love into practice on a daily basis.

Everything that exists is interconnected in some way: there is nothing that exists in isolation. Spiritual voyagers have realised this for a very long time and now Quantum Mechanics is acknowledging that this is so. A case of science catching up with reality!

Like many others, we have often asked ourselves two questions, namely

1. Who am I?

2. Why am I here?

We have found that the Bible answers these questions as follows.

1. I am the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27).

2(a). To do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God (Micah 6:8).

2(b). To fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

Ageless Wisdom tells us that the answers are as follows.

1. Each of us is part of the Divine and thus we are all Spiritual Beings.

2. We are all evolving in order to return to the Divine Source. This is achieved through countless lifetimes during which we learn from our experiences, good and bad. The Law of Karma gives us the opportunity to make the progress required.

Keeping these answers in mind reminds us that we need to take a spiritual approach to life and live as God wants us to be. Each of us has the responsibility to ensure that we ascend: we have to keep in mind our true spiritual identity and not get bogged down in the materialism that surrounds us.

We wish you well on your spiritual journey.
